Apply for Admission and be admitted to MVSU- Make sure all Official Transcripts (High Schools & Prior Colleges/Universities) are submitted to the MVSU Office of Admissions. 2. Apply for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by visiting www.fafsa.ed.gov – Make sure MVSU School Code is listed on your FAFSA (002424) 3. Make sure you have provided the Office of Financial Aid with all required documents to award and package you for financial aid within a timely fashion. 4. Make sure you visit http://sutton2.mvsu.edu/ to accept all aid you would like. 5. Make sure you review and sign your Direct Loan Master Promissory Note( Only if you are accepting loans) by visiting https://studentloans.gov/myDirectLoan/index.action 6. Make sure you review and sign your Direct Loan Entrance Counseling ( Only if you are accepting loans) by visiting https://studentloans.gov/myDirectLoan/index.action 7. Academic Advisement and Online Registration
Steps to Guide the On-Line Registration Process:
- Receive Academic Advisement - Students will receive academic advisement and their alternate PIN from their academic advisors. The alternate PIN will be used for registration only. Students will continue to use their primary PIN for accessing their accounts and, etc.
- Complete a "Proposed Class Schedule" with the academic advisor's assistance.
- Access the Internet and navigate to http://sutton2.mvsu.edu or to www.mvsu.edu and click on Banner.
- Enter the secure area.
- Enter your User's ID and Primary PIN to enter the course registration area, proceed with the regular registration steps until you reach the screen that includes the DROP/ADD Courses option. Click on DROP/ADD Courses and then you will be prompted for your ALTERNATE PIN.
The Alternate PIN is only being used for registration. You may obtain your PIN from your academic advisor. Your regular PIN is still valid and can be used for all other Sutton 2 activities.
COMPLETING ON-LINE REGISTRATION OFFICIALLY ENROLLS STUDENTS INTO SELECTED CLASSES. STUDENTS WHO DECIDE NOT TO ATTEND MUST OFFICIALLY WITHDRAW FROM THE UNIVERSITY.
Accept your Financial Aid Award Online You can now accept your Financial Aid Award Online. The following federal financial aid awards are awarded in an ‘Offered’ status.
- Federal Work Study
- Federal Direct Subsidized Loan
- Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan
Aid awarded in an Offered status must be accepted by the student. You can accept the financial aid awarded online. CLICK HERE for instructions.
New Student Loan Process
Effective July 1, 2010, Mississippi Valley State University will begin participating and processing all federal student loans through the William D. Ford Loan program. Student and parent borrowers will receive funding for their federal student loans directly from the U.S. Department of Education rather than from private banks and other lending institutions. Student billing statements are now available for viewing at http://sutton2.mvsu.edu. The Office of Student Accounts has launched a new e-billing service through the student self-service banner module. We will NO longer mail hard copy billing statements for the current semesters.
